Straight from the Classroom: Teachers Review Summit Learning

Who do you trust when it comes to education? Most of us turn to teachers in our communities to learn more about our schools. They are experts on what students need to learn and grow, and they are the driving force behind Summit Learning.

Teachers know firsthand that Summit Learning leads to more engaged, motivated, and successful students. And they can explain how Summit Learning makes learning more personal, strengthens relationships between teachers and students, and empowers students to develop the skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

When something is new or unfamiliar it can leave you with a lot of questions. And, when you want answers, you should turn to those closest to the classroom, who are teaching with Summit Learning every day. Here are some of the most common themes from real teacher reviews.

First, teachers rave about how Summit Learning helps them know their students more deeply and build stronger relationships with them. Teachers mentor students, meet with them regularly to discuss their goals and progress, and give them individualized support that meets their unique needs. Here’s how Summit Learning teachers describe their relationships with their students:

  • Summit Learning has changed everything about my teaching. I can’t imagine not being a Summit Learning Educator! Thank you for changing the way I use data, move students forward, and connect with students.” Erin, Greeley-Evans Weld County School District
  • My students knew they weren’t on their own – as their mentor, I was always there to provide support and to help them prioritize. That gave them confidence to be more independent and to take more ownership over their learning. Megan, Kershaw County School District

“Summit Learning is an amazing [Program] for teachers to develop real, relevant relationships with students.”

Gabriel, West Valley School District

Teachers are enthusiastic about the Summit Learning curriculum, which helps students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed. The curriculum is meant to be challenging–but also accessible–for all students no matter what their ability. It’s designed by teachers for teachers so that any teacher can adapt it to fit their specific classroom and students.

Teachers say that the real-world projects, resources, and materials in the Summit Learning curriculum give them the tools to enrich their students’ learning in new ways. As a result, teachers see amazing growth in their students. Read teachers’ own words from their Summit Learning reviews:

  • [My students] are creating their own definitions and finding how they learn best. The Habits of Success help my students to be better learners, better people, and become successful, contributing citizens. I am always excited to go to work because my students understand the importance of school and enjoy talking about learning! Cathy, Woodland Park School District
  • The curriculum has helped this third year teacher really make lessons to support my diverse learners with real world applicable projects! Haley, Providence Public Schools
  • They are beginning to gain valuable skills such as goal setting, time management and prioritizing tasks. Many students love the ability to move through the focus areas at their own pace, and several have already moved on to some accelerated learning. We’ve also found that there are students who struggled with the traditional school structure in the past who are thriving in Summit. Jill, Sioux Center Community Schools

“Students not only focus on content but the skills and habits they will need in college and careers.”

Shannon

Some people think that personalized learning means that students only interact with technology, but this is far from the truth. Teachers know that with Summit Learning, students spend the majority of their time in school actively engaging with teachers and classmates on real-world projects—not sitting passively in front of a computer. Check out what teachers say about how students spend their time in Summit Learning classrooms.

  • My students, in their second year of Summit, are doing so much more than before. Their writing skills are improved, they can close read grade level texts more easily, they collaborate on projects! And contrary to popular belief, they aren’t on their computers all the time. Stephanie, Providence Public Schools
  • It’s based around project-based learning. It… allows us to really focus on the projects and the cognitive skills embedded in projects. Chris, McPherson Unified School District
  • Personalized learning has helped my students find their voice, volunteer to help others, work together as a team, and, most importantly, feel confident enough to take ownership of their education. Melani, Fresno Unified School District
