Student Voice: Why I’m Excited for School to Start.

Although I have really enjoyed my summer, I am so excited to return to school this fall. I am a 7th grader at Chester County Junior High School (CCJHS) in Henderson, Tennessee. I’m looking forward to many things this year.

For example, I can’t wait to see my friends, find out who is in my new classroom, and play basketball with my teammates. I’m also looking forward to helping the upcoming 6th graders adjust to junior high life with the Summit Learning teaching style. While it can be an adjustment, using Summit trains us to become confident time managers.

Knowing that Summit Learning is on my side, I am eagerly awaiting the first day of school and joining the news/media team of CCJHS called, Eagle Vision Network.

I applied for a position with the network by interviewing my Principal Dr. Belinda Anderson. I then created a video of the interview. The new Eagle Vision Network members were announced on our local news station, WBBJ, and I was thrilled to find out that I had been selected.

Being a part of this group is so rewarding because I have the opportunity to inspire other students to be more involved in our school. We bring the latest school announcements two days a week to the class body, provide video and commentary on YouTube for sporting events, host new teacher interviews, and produce videos of student life.

Participating in my extracurricular activities such as Eagle Vision Network, basketball, and volleyball requires a lot of my time and commitment. Sometimes, I am needed during regular class time. Other times I am so busy at night. With the support of my amazing teachers, I can work ahead and provide myself room for flexibility with school work. I am then able to focus on my hobbies  without stressing. I am pleased with Summit Learning because it allows me to invest time in my personal life and passions.
