2017-18: Summit Learning’s Spring Regional Convenings Kick Off This Month

More than 2,100 Summit Learning teachers and school leaders will gather in 14 cities across the country for Summit Learning’s spring regional convenings this month. The two-day training experience is designed to provide ongoing support for schools in the Summit Learning Program. It’s also a chance for educators to network with other Summit Learning schools in their region.

What is the Purpose of Spring Regional Convenings?

Convenings bring together full grade-level teams and school leaders to train with Summit’s experienced mentors. While summer training focused on preparation for implementing the Summit Learning Program, and fall regional convenings provided continued support and training, spring regional convenings will assist educators in finishing the school year strong.

What Type of Training Is Offered at Spring Regional Convenings?

Summit Learning’s Curriculum and Instruction team developed a variety of workshops to meet the needs of Summit Learning educators approaching the end of the school year. Some topics include:

  • Supporting Diverse Learners Across the Finish Line
  • Strategies for Students Who Have Finished their Focus Areas
  • Principles of Effective Feedback
  • Course Level Data Analysis & Finishing Strong Plan

Office hours with Summit Learning staff will also be offered — allowing teachers and school leaders time to address specific questions.

When and Where are Spring Regional Convenings Taking Place?

Each school and grade-level team will participate in a two-day training with other Summit Learning schools in their local region. In February, more than 350 educators from Pasadena Independent School District gathered for their convening. Starting this week, 14 more cities will hold their own convenings.
