Narda Black

Narda Black is a 6th grade English and History teacher at Creekside Intermediate School in Dexter, Michigan. She just finished her second year of teaching with the Summit Learning personalized approach to teaching and learning. She has been in education for 16 years. When she was a child, she wanted to be a newspaper columnist or broadcast journalist. She studied journalism at the University of Florida and then became interested in the creative aspects of advertising. She later went on to work for several major metro daily newspapers all over the country including The Miami Herald, The Salt Lake Tribune and The Sacramento Bee. Her experiences training and creating professional development opportunities for her staff in the newspaper business revealed her true desire to work in education. She returned to college, earned her teaching certificate and became a teacher. She recently said that “Becoming an educator was the best decision I’ve ever made” and she hasn’t looked back since!
