Setting the stage for students’ success in college and beyond has been Pasadena Independent School District’s (PISD) goal in implementing the Summit Learning instructional approach, which they refer to as the Connect Program. In 2017–18, 7th and 8th grade students using the Connect Program made significant gains in math and reading.

The Summit Learning approach is designed to help all students reach their full potential. In collaboration with its district and community, Snow Hill Middle School implemented Summit Learning in 2016, resulting in exceeded project growth goals in math and ELA.
After one year, 8th graders from Rhode Island’s Woonsocket school district who used the Summit Learning approach outperformed their non-Summit Learning peers on the state’s annual PARCC assessment in math and reading. District leadership has also observed an increase in students’ growth mindsets toward their learning.
